Question by steph.kills: The only medication I’ve ever discovered that helps my back discomfort is… frequently abused?
I’ve had general back pain all my life. It seems like absolutely nothing stops it my back has more tension than freakin’ high tension wires. I’ve been given all kinds of random meds for it, such as muscle relaxants. Absolutely nothing has worked to any real degree.
However, I had dental surgery this summer and was prescribed Vicodin for the week following. It was a 5mg dose. The first couple of knocked me to the floor, but then I noticed the effects decreased dramatically right after that. Then, I realized a thing awesome: no back pain!!! It didn’t appear to have any other side effects besides me feeling a little weirdly—type of bleeding, even—happiness.
Is the danger of this drug actually so a lot that I should not attempt and get a prescription from my GP? It was like the ideal week of my life in a lengthy time :/

The difficulty with meds is that they mask the pain and do not assist the difficulty at all. Ask your GP to refer you to a specialist who can get to the root of the difficulty.

i suffered a ‘slipped disc’ a few years ago, the only off the shelf medicine i could get to work was Cocodamol, i took 2 every 4 hours for about 6 months, waking in the night to take them.
It did stop the pain (especially when i had a beer) but can do your organs some damage.
I dont know anything about Vicodin to comment but it doesnt sound like something thats easily available
I have been having the same problems for years and the only thing that has helped me is Vicodin. It is very hard to get the doctor to believe you are in enough pain to need the vicodin. The last time I went and saw my GP he gave me prescription strength Aleive. It did NOTHING. Lucky for me, I had some Vicodin left over from my dental appointment and have been taking them.
I have been to several doctors, including specialist and no one can figure out why I have this pain or what could be the cause of it. I honestly feel that most doctors really don’t care, they don’t believe that I hurt this bad, and if you go for a second or 3rd opinion (different docs) then they think you are doctor shopping, or drug hunting. I just want the pain to go away.
Good luck Sweetie, I hope you get the relief you are in need of.
But now there is help for those suffering with back pains. The pain is caused by pinched muscles in the back and once you release the muscles in your back the pain is gone. I suffered for 30 years with back pain and was so thankful to find this. Here’s how to release those back muscles to get rid of the pain:
Back:
(do from a sitting position)
Place your left hand on your left leg next to your body. Place your right hand over your left shoulder, fingers over the back and the palm in the front and firmly press on them and hold. After 30 seconds slowly lower your body forward and to the outside of your left leg, keeping your left arm fairly straight as you do. When you reach your lap remain there for another 10 seconds, release the pressure but rest there for another 30 seconds. Then reverse your hand positions and do your right side.
For best results relax your body first by taking a deep breath and exhaling then remain this relaxed.
dont use a drug bcoz it might have side effect aftewr days after use.
first find out if side effects of vicodin is there ,then what are they?
then decide no problem to use it if it is good
