They are Quite related.
Technically.. in analgesic charts Oxycodone can be touted as 1.5 to two times as potent.
Even though in reality it is usually about the same in terms of analgesia (discomfort relief).
They can be swapped 1 to 1 on a dosing schedule.
Oxycodone has much more stigma attached to it than Hydrocodone since many of its preparations are of a Schedule II.
To be safe, to transfer to and from Hydrocodone – Oxycodone.. Take equal amounts. Going from Oxycodone to Hydrocodone, theoretically you ought to take slightly less Hydrocodone, mg per mg. Even though I find, once more, them to be practically identical in strength.
One Caveat although — I locate that oxycodone has a greater ‘ceiling’ dose. Whereas with hydrocodone, you fairly considerably get the maximum analgesic prospective out of 30-40mg’s.. with oxycodone this can go two or three times higher. So Oxycodone has a lot more potential for overdose and so on with extreme dosages.

oxycodone is stronger than hydrocodone. I have been in pain management for some time now and have started from the non narcotics to hydrocodone to oxycodone. The usual tramadal/ultram to vicodin to percocet to oxycodone now at 30mg. They oxycodone is stronger works better for me, some like the hydrocodone because it usually comes with tylenol but I like the choice to take tylenol with the medication so I don’t overdue the tylenol. Hydrocodone won’t even touch my pain anymore, oxycodone will relieve my pain. When I was taking a lower doses like 5mg hydrocodone vs 5mg percocet the percocet worked better for me and you could definitely tell the strength was higher. Where I’m at now though it’s a hard road to get off of them so the lower you can stay the better you are because it is nearly impossible to just quit from what I’m taking now and eventually you just go up unless you figure out another way to deal with the pain.
