Question by Yeng: I have a friend who takes tramadol 50 mgs five or 6 tablets one time a day. Is my friend at risk?
He takes these number of pills to help him with his depression. He was able to to get rid of his addiction to tramadol 2 years ago. but now he’s hooked again for two months now since of his depression. He’s having ahard time to quit because of the withdrawal symptoms he will encounter.I’m concerned about how hetakes the medication. He told he takes it 5 or 6 tabs at one time. I’m so concern about his safety. Please advice simply because this friend is just an on-line friend and wont tell his close pals or loved ones about his difficulty. He told me not to tell any person evn his family members. I’m so confused about keeping the promise and again concern about his nicely-getting.
Thanks for any advice on this matter.

i just looked and tramadol has a load of poor side effects. Taking 5-6 Discomfort killers everyday for 2 years is actually not great for his well being. you want to get him to see someone at when.

Yes tramadole although it is very weak compared to others, should not be taken that way. You obviously know this or else you would not be concerned. When I was prescribed it for my back 50mg, and i still to this day am prescribed it, My neuro told me that a story about how the lead singer of RHCP was addicted to Ultram (tramadol) ….so much that he went through horrible withdraws without it. You can read about his battle with it in his book that he wrote..I dont know the name but the lead singer for RHCP is named anthony kedias or something or other..in his auto biography he wrote about his struggle with tramadol. Maybe that will help your friend connect with the battle he is faciing.
He should see a psyciatrist or psychologist about actully getting on anti depressants. There is nothing wrong with it, that is why they make them. Its odd, because i always see people abusing substances for something else, when they could just go take what ever it is to fix that problem instead of trying to treat themsevles with whats ever avaiable, if you know what I mean. Why take tramadol for depression when he can get anti depressants that will work just for that?
try explaining to him, that he will not be turned down anti depressants if he is depressed. Now yes the main barrier is the money issue about having to pay a professional to talk to.I understand that..cause ive been their….just to get the pills. However what most dont realize is their are a lot of clinics who do stuff like that for free, now he will have to pay for his own prescription of anti depressants, but he can find someone out their in his community who does this sort of stuff either probono- as charity work or as community servcice..or maybe its a goverment facility
if you want to since you are concered you should find this clinc through google…it will take some fanagling but im sure you have one in your area, here in the state of florida its called circles of care, and its almost completly free, i think its just a few dollars to see a specialist who will write you a script.
The number one reason why people abuse drugs is because they are trying to fix a problem with the wrong medication..
